Will Ferrell Attached to Shakespearean Theater Comedy.

Sony has bought a pitch from Mosaic as a starring vehicle for Will Ferrell.
The original idea was developed internally at Mosaic and currently untitled. The comedy centers on the intense, competitive world inside a Shakespearean theater company.
David Guion and Michael Handelman will be writing the screenplay. Michael De Luca and Jonathan Kadin are overseeing for Sony Pictures Entertainment.
Ferrell and Sony have had a run of good results with hits that include “Step Brothers,” “The Other Guys” and “Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby.” The studio recently bought a buddy comedy pitch, “Border Guards,” with Ferrell and John C. Reilly attached to star.
Guion and Handelman have become two of Hollywood’s go-to writers when it comes to comedies, with past credits including “The Internship,” “The Watch,” “Blades of Glory” and “Men in Black III.”
Their next project “Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb” bows Dec. 19.
Will Ferrell is planning on giving audiences an inside look at the competitive world of Shakespearean theatre actors. Variety reports that Ferrell, who starred earlier this year in The LEGO Movie, will headline a currently-untitled comedy feature, portraying just such a thespian.
Ferrell, who also starred this year on the television miniseries “The Spoils of Babylon,” can next be seen starring opposite Kevin Hart in the Warner Bros. comedy Get Hard, set for release March 27, 2015.
Michael De Luca and Jonathan Kadin will oversee the new comedy for Sony Pictures.
