Jon Stewart has finally revealed the reason as to why he quit what is considered to many as the “most perfect job in the world.”
Earlier this year Stewart came out publicly and announced that he will be quitting the Daily Show.
According to Stewart the decision to quit the post of being host of the Daily Show was brought about following a period in which he life was mired with dissatisfaction as well as anger towards key news services and lastly the political process in the U.S.
"You have moments of dissatisfaction, and then you come out of it and it's OK. But the cycles become longer and maybe more entrenched," he said.
Stewart particularly scathes Fox News, a right-leaning news service which is owned by Rupert Murdoch.
“Watching these channels all day is incredibly depressing,” Stewart said, humourously adding that, “I live in a constant state of depression. I think of us as turd miners. I put on my helmet, I go and mine turds, hopefully, I don't get turd lung disease."
He also states that his decision was also due to the growing disenchantment with politics in America and his desire to spend some quality time with his children, Maggie, 9, and Nathan, 10.
"It was a combination of the limitations of my brain and a format that is geared towards following an increasingly redundant process, which is our political process. I was just thinking, 'Are there other ways to skin this cat?' And, beyond that, it would be nice to be home when my little elves get home from school, occasionally."
