South Park is undoubtedly the most controversial of all cartoon series ever made! It’s currently in its 19th season and has covered a whopping 267 episodes so far! The show is created by Terry Parker and Matt Stone.
Being an animated sitcom, it is very popular among adults, more than the children. Although this show has met with countless attempts to stop the airing of it (for fear it may harm children) the show still goes on.
It is essentially an American sitcom with a lot of adult content; adult in every sense of the word - including foul dialogue, racy imagery, and adult concepts that are far too outrageous for normalcy.
South Park was released at a time when showing or talking about toilets was taboo and here comes one episode after another not only talking about it but showing animated feces on an episode dedicated to Christmas!
The main appeal of South Park is not just the foul language or the adult humor, it can be educational.
South Park is very oriented towards talking about the truth of matters. In a sense, each episode is tinted with concepts surrounding “thinking for yourself” rather than just blindly following any authority figure.
Although we live in a world that propagates diversity, some people are still very racist. South Park points this out blatantly. However, in the course of the episode, no matter how racist it becomes, the show talks about how people can live together in diversity.
Finally, the appeal for South Park is that it aims at each character to take personal responsibility. No matter what the actions were, in every moral sense, there is also a consequence which is shown in the course of the episode.
